Our client is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills and an interest in building relationships to join the team as a Packaging & Raw Material Buyer. This person will help deliver products to customers. This role involves ensuring the availability of packaging materials, such as boxes and labels, and essential ingredients for the company's products. The buyer will play a crucial role in launching new products and maintaining smooth production.

salary: $90,000 - $160,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4:30 PM
education: Bachelors

Responsibilities

  • This role involves purchasing all packaging materials for products (such as boxes and labels) and ensuring the availability of essential raw ingredients.
  • Collaboration with other teams is essential including product developers (R&D), marketers, and operations specialists to ensure correct packaging design, aesthetics, and compliance with regulations.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships is important. This includes negotiating prices and agreements, as well as monitoring supplier performance regarding cost, quality, delivery speed, and reliability.
  • Managing the timing of purchases ensures materials are available for new products, special promotions, and regular production runs.
  • Reviewing and approving all packaging details (designs and measurements) with internal teams and suppliers is required to ensure accuracy.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings, environmental improvements , and innovative packaging solutions is a key responsibility.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all purchases, including material lead times and minimum order quantities from suppliers, is necessary.
  • Resolving supplier issues and proactively managing potential risks to prevent supply chain interruptions is crucial.
  • Assisting with inventory planning to prevent material shortages or excess stock is also a responsibility.
