As a pivotal member of our Enterprise Architecture group, youll play a critical part in shaping the future of the Marketing, Sales & Services (MS&S) portfolio. We are looking for a holistic thinker who can seamlessly connect various domains from strategy to technology and translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights. The Business Architect should possess a passion for shaping the strategic future of architecture and its tangible impact on the MS&S portfolio. Candidates should have established experience in driving significant organizational change, with a proven ability to facilitate the development of innovative ideas from concept to successful execution. You will be a key partner in translating IT specifics into compelling business language and visually communicating complex architectural concepts to diverse audiences, ensuring shared understanding and commitment.

The Business Architect will collaborate onsite in Dearborn, Michigan four days/week. Relocation assistance may be available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll do

  • Consult strategically with business leaders, senior architects, and IT partners to define the business architecture required to achieve ambitious business strategies and deliver measurable value.
  • Lead and participate in customer journey and discovery sessions, identifying pain points and opportunities for architectural intervention.
  • Define clear, quantifiable success measures based on business strategy, and track progress against them.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of the architecture for the MS&S application portfolio, identifying opportunities for optimization and innovation.
  • Create dynamic models that support current state analysis and future state strategies, emphasizing value streams and capability-based planning.
  • Present and pitch compelling architecture insights and recommendations to senior leadership, demonstrating the business value and strategic implications.
  • Support the Enterprise Architecture organization by championing best practices in Business and Information Architecture, contributing to the overall maturity of the practice.
  • Pair with other MS&S architects to ensure seamless alignment across the portfolio, fostering a collaborative architectural ecosystem.
  • Develop robust strategies and define clear requirements for systems that will support architecture roadmaps, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Demonstrate proven results in successful partnering with business and IT stakeholders for strategy execution.
QUALIFICATIONS

You'll have...

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Information architect on large-scale products or enterprise initiatives.
  • 3+ years of experience in performing Business Architecture activities with a strong understanding of its strategic impact. Experience will include:
    • Strong facilitation, written, and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-centric language.
    • Ability to model capabilities, processes, data, and conceptually represent complex business architecture artifacts, including a strong understanding of how to visually translate ideas for diverse audiences.
    • Knowledge and practical experience with at least one leading architectural framework such as BizBok, Zachman Framework, or TOGAF.
    • Proven ability to thrive in and bring clarity to ambiguous situations, adapting to evolving requirements and priorities.

  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or IT related field
  • Demonstrated business process analysis and design, with a focus on value stream mapping.
  • Experience with Ford IT architecture processes and architecture work.
  • Ability to provide expert consulting and leadership on process, capabilities, and information models, driving consensus and adoption.
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience with multiple architectural frameworks and methodologies, including BizBok, Zachman Framework, and TOGAF.
  • Experience with Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) for detailed process modeling.
  • Experience with the Ins-pi modeling tool.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, influential relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and storytelling.
  • Experience working in a Product Driven Agile Organization, contributing to agile release trains and ceremonies.
  • Demonstrated ability for out-of-the-box thinking and innovative problem-solving.
