Overview
The Construction Inspector I - Subdivision is responsible for inspecting and ensuring that construction projects adhere to the Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM), Unified Development Code (UDC), ordinances, regulations, and contract specifications. This role involves site visits, monitoring construction activities, and providing daily reports on progress and any issues. This position requires working closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure quality control and compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with local, state, UDC, IDM, regulations, and approved plans
- Monitor contractor activities and verify work meets quality standards and project specifications
- Assist in reviewing construction plans and specifications to identify potential issues before construction begins
- Document inspection results, noting any deviations from approved plans, and providing recommendations for corrective actions
- Maintain detailed daily logs and prepare comprehensive reports on the status and progress of construction projects
- Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers regarding inspection findings
- Assist in reviewing and verifying contractor's work completion for reimbursement

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non-Exempt - Full-Time
- Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
- Must be available to work additional hours as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Four (4) years of experience in municipal infrastructure construction or other related fields
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring
- Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
