Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Robotic Laser Weld Operator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of our robotic laser welding systems to produce high-quality, precision-welded components. This role requires a strong understanding of robotic systems, laser welding processes, and quality control procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Operation:
- Set up and operate robotic laser welding cells according to work instructions, blueprints, and production schedules.
- Load and unload parts into fixtures with a high degree of accuracy and care.
- Monitor the welding process to ensure proper function and adherence to quality standards.
- Make minor adjustments to robot programs and parameters as needed to maintain weld quality and efficiency.
- Quality Assurance:
- Perform in-process inspections using visual aids, micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate production records.
- Identify and report any defects, malfunctions, or issues with the equipment or materials immediately to a supervisor or lead.
- Participate in root cause analysis for any weld quality issues.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on robotic welding equipment, including cleaning lenses, checking gas levels, and replacing consumables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with the robotic system or welding process.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on more complex equipment problems.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as laser safety glasses.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S principles).
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. A technical degree or certification in robotics, welding, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a welding operator, preferably with robotic or automated systems.
- Experience with laser welding is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills for program selection and data entry.
- Ability to use and read various measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to welding and robotic equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move parts or equipment up to [e.g., 25-50] pounds.
- Good vision, including the ability to see small details and discern colors.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolants, and metal chips.
- May require working occasional overtime or weekends based on production demands.
