As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll collaborate with a talented team of engineers and technicians to design, develop, and launch innovative products that shape the future of neuromodulation. In this role, you will lead electrical product development for next generation implantables and external neurostimulators supporting therapies such as Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of the regulatory and safety standards that govern medical device development.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the design, development, analysis, characterization, verification, and debugging of new electrical designs-covering both analog and digital circuitry for implantable devices and patient care instruments.

  • Apply theory and practical knowledge of LF & HF antennas, matching circuitry, radios, and related electrical connection topologies within implantables and patient programmers.

  • Integrate firmware with embedded electronics to create robust, high-performance systems.

  • Design, execute, and validate test methods to ensure compliance with standards, product specifications, and system requirements.

  • Partner with Electrical, Systems, Firmware, and IC Design teams to troubleshoot issues, create targeted test suites, and drive verification of electrical designs.

  • Analyze product performance using DFSS techniques to optimize quality and reliability.

  • Validate test environments, including non-product software validation.

  • Develop test methods and work with certified test houses to verify/certify products to global regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 14708-3).

  • Define production test requirements and support the creation of manufacturing test applications for PCBA and device assembly.

  • Adhere to all quality policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with quality systems and delivery of high-standard work.

  • Collaborate effectively across international teams and travel globally as needed.

Location: Fridley, MN

  • This is an on-site position required to be in the office 4 days/week in Fridley, MN.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

  • OR advance degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Advance degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • Proven track record of technical leadership in complex engineering projects

  • Hands-on experience with hardware integration of RF subsystems

  • Expertise in verification and validation of Class II and Class III medical devices

  • Proficiency in developing automated test benches and validating test scripts, methods, and systems

  • Strong foundation in PCB design methodology, including CAD tools and manufacturing processes

  • Experience with modeling and simulation using MATLAB, C/C++, LabVIEW, and/or Python scripting

  • Familiarity with global medical device standards such as ISO 14708 and IEC 60601

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$106,400.00 - $159,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
