Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the District Water Quality Program Manager/Office Chief for the Office of Water Quality, the Branch Chief for Stormwater Design Branch D supervises and performs professional engineering work pertaining to stormwater management, related to compliance with the Caltrans Statewide National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit, and ensuring consistency in the District's implementation of the statewide Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) in all projects. The Branch Chief will supervise Transportation Engineers, who perform work that includes, but not limited to: planning and design of permanent stormwater treatment best management practices (BMPs); recommendation of temporary Construction Site BMPs; support coordination with Regional Water Quality Control Boards 1, 2, 3 and 5; support Project Development Teams.
While Caltrans supports telework, in-person attendance is required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate may be required to conduct business travel on behalf of the Department or commute to the headquartered location. Business travel reimbursements considers an employee's designated Headquarters Location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Working Conditions
Position located at 111 Grand Ave., Oakland, Alameda County.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs.
