The Opportunity
We're searching for a detail-oriented and proficient Part-Time Architectural Job Captain/Draftsman to join our team in an on-site capacity. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, work closely with a licensed architect, and gain valuable experience within a growing firm. You'll play a crucial role in bringing our designs to life through precise technical drawings and documentation, as well as assisting with project coordination and quality control.
Responsibilities
* Translate architectural sketches and specifications into detailed construction documents using AutoCAD LT 2023.
* Prepare architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details.
* Collaborate with the principal architect to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent and meet project requirements.
* Incorporate revisions and updates to drawings as necessary based on feedback and design changes.
* Maintain organized project files and documentation.
* Potentially assist in gathering measurements and information during site visits.
* Coordinate with consultants and other team members to ensure smooth project flow.
* Contribute to quality control by reviewing drawings and documentation for accuracy and consistency.
* Potentially assist in addressing RFIs and submittals during construction administration.
* Adhere strictly to all established firm standards and practices for drafting, documentation, and project procedures to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in AutoCAD LT (version 2023 strongly preferred).
* Understanding of architectural drafting principles and standards.
* Ability to interpret and translate sketches and specifications into accurate technical drawings.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* A portfolio showcasing relevant drafting work.
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Familiarity with construction documentation and detailing.
* Basic understanding of building codes and regulations.
