Safety Manager duties and responsibilities

The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The main duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop and execute site safety plans
  • Conducting safety related training
  • Perform equipment inspections
  • Monitor compliance with safety programs and policies
  • Investigate accidents / incidents to determine Root Cause
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and track through closure
  • Identify unsafe trends / unsafe behaviors
  • Develop safety related reports
  • Conduct Hazard Assessments / Hazard Analysis

Requirements, Education, and Skills

  • Proven experience as a safety manager (3-5 yrs)
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Ability to produce reports and developing relevant policies
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Some type of professional safety certification, such as Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is preferred
