Franklin Construction Inc. is seeking a General Superintendent to join our team. The ideal Superintendent candidate has 10 plus years' experience as project Foreman or Superintendent on large scale projects, a degree in construction management is preferred but not required.
The main objectives for a successful candidate are as follows: Manage overall field operations and resources in a safe, productive, and profitable manner. Constant evaluation of operations to increase efficiency and ensure detailed work items are accomplished. Assign and dispatch crew personnel, equipment, materials, and trucking. Coordinate various subcontractors to improve efficiency and minimize re-work. Ensure field personnel provide quality results and products with focus on minimal warranty/re-work. Continue to promote and develop the company culture that takes pride in and enjoys their work.
Franklin Construction Inc has been operating in Butte County since 1973, specializing in heavy civil work such as demolition, grading, paving, and chipsealing projects in Northern California. In addition to construction operations, Franklin Construction Inc. manage three rock quarries, an aggregate recycling facility, and an asphalt plant. Our company has over 50 employees, with annual construction contract revenues of about $20-25 million and $10-12 million in annual aggregate sales.
Duties and Responsibilities
Construction
Obtain project documents as needed and verify that all parties involved have what is needed on a daily basis and are working of the most current drawing set
Dispatch required equipment, personnel, trucks and materials to multiple jobs daily
Schedule and forecast with project managers when project phases will start and be completed
Optimize equipment utilization
Monitor all construction activities on a daily basis. Including, but not limited to, grading, paving, traffic control operations.
Code & approve field personnel timecards and applicable invoices.
Schedule inspections with various parties
Manage public interactions and cultivate Franklin's community relationships.
Coordinate with site owners and prime contractors when necessary
Equipment
Help facilitate equipment maintenance and identify issues to be discussed with Shop Foreman
Work with closely with mechanics to assist and anticipate field needs of equipment
When Franklin equipment is not available, obtain optimum rental in each situation and maximize utilization
Human Resources
Keep field employees working to the best of their abilities. Utilize them when and where they will best succeed
Manage field personalities and coordinate crews
Hire field personnel
Safety
Reinforce our safety culture, ensure employees adhere to safety guidelines
Provide proper PPE's for the task
Traffic Control Plan implementation
Verify USA's prior to start of work
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Technology
Experience with GPS grade control technology and troubleshooting
Proficiently utilize laptop, tablet, and cellular device
Proficient with MS365, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
Experience with Sharpesoft Estimating software or similar
Qualifications/Work Experience
Strong leadership and communication skills with proven track record of successful project operations
Minimum 10 years in civil construction managing field personnel as either Foreman or Superintendent on large scale projects.
Bachelor's degree in construction management preferred but not required.
Competent Person Training
OSHA 30
Traffic Control Supervisor certification
