Astronics AES is on the lookout for a Staff Level Electrical Engineer to enhance our Airborne Power Control (APC) Product Team, as part of our office in Kirkland, WA.
This is a unique opportunity to collaborate in the design of the entire electrical system for the FLRRA Helicopter program, as well as contribute to pioneering eVTOL electric aviation technology.
This predominantly on-site role offers the flexibility to work remotely part-time, depending on project needs.

Job Summary:
The principal aim for the Staff Electrical Engineer is to assist in establishing AES as a globally recognized leader in aircraft electrical power generation systems, catering to small to midsize business jets, UAVs, and rotorcraft.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design analog and digital circuits for power electronics products.
- Utilize circuit simulation tools to guide design approaches.
- Research and select circuit components based on factors such as performance, cost, and availability.
- Conduct initial hardware functional testing.
- Create design process documents to ensure RTCA DO-254 compliance.
- Develop reliable products suitable for an aircraft environment considering factors such as temperature and EMI.
- Collaborate with technician staff to support hardware performance testing.
- Deliver technical presentations to both internal and external audiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution required.
Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise (typically eight or more years of direct experience) with the aforementioned duties and responsibilities to be considered for the Staff Electrical Engineer role.
Employment Eligibility Requirements:
- As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Therefore, you must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.
- Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment background check and drug test, which includes screening for the use of cannabis.
Base Salary is $132,983 - $199,474 per year. The midpoint for this range is $166,228.
At Astronics AES, individuals are typically hired closer to the midpoint rather than near the top of the range.
The actual salary offered will be influenced by several job-related and non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions, and business needs.
