Apprentice Solar Installer/Electrician
_Georgia Solar Pros - Cairo, GA/Tallahassee, FL_
Georgia Solar Pros is a small, locally owned solar contractor, and we're looking for a dependable person with mechanical/electrical aptitude who wants a long term career in renewable energy. This role combines hands on installation work with troubleshooting/service tasks. You'll be trained directly by experienced technicians, and your responsibilities will expand as you prove yourself.
Why This Role
Growth and Mentorship: You'll learn the full solar installation process-from racking and wiring to commissioning and service. Our goal is to develop you into a confident solar electrician who can run jobs independently.
Real Responsibility: Even as a trainee, you'll be on site with our lead installer, working on real projects. We expect reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to problem solve.
Career Path: This is a great fit if you're mechanically inclined, enjoy learning new skills, and want to build a long term career in the renewable energy field.
What You'll Do
Mount racking and solar panels on roofs and ground mounts
Run and terminate DC and AC wiring
Bend and install EMT conduit cleanly
Install and wire inverters, batteries, and system disconnects
Assist with commissioning and monitoring setup
Diagnose basic electrical and system issues and perform service calls
Work safely on ladders, rooftops, and in various weather conditions
Handle physically demanding tasks and long hours outdoors, including in the summer heat
What We're Looking For
Aptitude and Reliability: You don't have to be a journeyman electrician, but you should be mechanically inclined, responsible, and eager to learn. If you've worked in construction, electrical, HVAC, or a similar trade, that's a plus.
Work Ethic: You take pride in doing a job right. You show up on time, communicate clearly, and follow instructions while quickly gaining independence.
Physical Ability: Able to lift 70 lbs, climb ladders, work on pitched roofs, and perform manual labor for extended periods outside in hot summer conditions.
Logistics: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. You must live within about an hour of Tallahassee, FL and be willing to travel overnight on some jobs (we cover meals, lodging, mileage, and pay a $100/day per diem on travel jobs).
Preferred but Not Required: Familiarity with rooging, electrical systems, conduit bending, solar equipment (SolArk, Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA), or any electrical certifications (eg, Journeyman, NABCEP).
