Waukesha County's Engineering Team is seeking a talented Civil Engineer to contribute to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation highway and bridge infrastructure. This role involves engineering problem solving, technical engineering application, teamwork, creativity, learning, communication, customer service and a fearless pursuit of excellence and public service.
Ke y Responsibilities:
- Transportation project development, design and construction.
- Project management and consultant oversight.
- Develop and conduct environmental assessments for transportation projects.
- Conduct cost estimates, traffic, and drainage studies for highway project s.
- Assist in preparing the five-year highway capital plan.
- Utilize CADD , Civil3D and GIS for complex engineering computations and designs.
- Prepare detailed reports, roadway plans, right-of-way plats, and technical specifications.
- Transportation project utility coordination.
- Utilize traffic data, processes and tools for highway safety, operations and design decision-making.
- Prepare and administer highway and bridge construction contracts.
- Manage elements of the department's computerized highway asset management system.
Essential Skills and Qual ifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental engineering, or a related field; (December 2025 graduates eligible to apply.)
- Proficient in CADD, GIS, and Civil3D .
- Strong understanding of Wisconsin DOT, AASHTO standards, and pertinent regulations.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Wisconsin DOT Facilities Development Manual, Wisconsin MUTCD, Wisconsin DOT Construction and Materials Manual, and Wisconsin DOT Traffic Engineering, Operations & Safety Manual
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 Applications.
- Proven project management and data analysis skills.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in civil or environmental engineering or closely related field. (December 2025 graduates eligible to apply.)
