    PRIMARY FUNCTION: Install, repair locks and building hardware; install, repair and construct equipment associated with a carpentry function.

    Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
    • Selecting, installing and servicing all the components of an electrical or mechanical lock.
    • Completing work orders as assigned.
    • Coordinating and executing small construction projects.
    • General Carpentry related tasks.
    • Recommending to the Coordinator and/or Assistant Coordinator as to the repair and/or replacement of doors and door hardware equipment.
    • Performing masonry patch work as necessary.
    • Performing repairs and/or replacement of door and locking hardware throughout all district facilities.
    • Installing interior/exterior doors and door frames.
    • Determining key access levels for district facilities.
    • Overseeing the district wide key security program.
    • Working with vendors for the best pricing.
    • Assisting with inspections of new installations and/or modifications performed by others.
    • Developing materials lists and determining costs; estimating time and materials necessary to complete a job.

    Skilled in:
    • Troubleshooting, including the ability to determine causes of operating errors or problems and recommending solutions.
    • Solving complex problems, including the ability to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and recommend solutions.
    • Installing equipment, machines, and related fixtures/wiring/programs to meet specifications.
    • Determining the kind of tools, equipment and labor needed to complete a job.
    • Working cooperatively with other trades and laborers on repair/replacement projects.
    • Arranging items or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
    • Solving problems, including but not limited to the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers and solutions that make sense.
    • Comprehending written information and directions in work related documents.
    • Communicating effectively in verbal and written formats.
    • Performing assigned functions with minimal direction in accordance with established set departmental operations.

    Required Licenses, Education: High School Diploma or GED.

    Preferred Licenses: Vocational training in general carpentry desirable. Carpentry trade school, Accredited locksmith training.

    Required Work Experience: Two years work experience with commercial carpentry, master keying systems, repair and installation of building locksets, doors, door frames and hardware.

    Job Type: Full-time, year round,

    Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday to Friday. Hours may very on based on operational need.

    Bargaining Unit: Custodial; the contract may be found here:

    Salary Range : Classification 6 as per contract $24.43 to 34.66 DOE.
