Project Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer with a strong background in solar construction standards and project documentation practices. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar or mechanical construction and be adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams to support project completion. A thorough understanding of safety protocols, quality assurance and control (QA/QC) procedures, and regulatory compliance specific to solar construction environments is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as estimating, procurement, and field operations to support project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality assurance, and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance specific to solar construction environments.
  • Draft and maintain as-built drawings using Bluebeam Revu.
  • Perform production log audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with project metrics.
  • Build and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project, coordinating with field and office teams.
  • Support Construction Managers and Assistant Project Managers in document control, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and internal teams to track progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in designing residential and commercial solar arrays using tools like AutoCAD, Solmetric, Aurora, and Scanifly.
  • Experience with racking systems such as NEXTracker, ETI, GameChange, PVH, and ATI.
  • Strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems, including inverter commissioning, switchgear installation, and torque tube alignment.
  • Familiarity with NEC, CEC, and ASHRAE standards.
  • Experience in construction management with oversight of foundation installations, module placement, and QA/QC inspections.
  • Use of Procore and Bluebeam for documentation and markup workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in solar system design and engineering.
  • Knowledge of construction management, including construction inspection and management.
  • Familiarity with compliance and project management practices.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
Work Environment

The candidate will be working both in an office and outdoors on-site with the team as needed. The company is known for its expertise in drilling and foundation solutions, particularly for solar energy projects. The work environment is dynamic, offering opportunities to work on a variety of solar and mechanical construction projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.10/hr.
