Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of electrical systems aboard ships.

Responsibilities

• Interpret work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

• Write reports, order materials, and report any abnormal conditions either safety or mechanical.

• Troubleshoot complex problems on electrical equipment and systems.

• Run cabling into ships, excluding pin connectorization or live terminations.

• Help repair and refurbish electrical lighting systems, communications systems, and other systems aboard the ship that operate off of electrical power.

Essential Skills

• Strong understanding of how electricity works and basic electrical theory.

• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

• Experience with troubleshooting and using meters.

• Proficient in wiring and handling cables.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Required Training: VSRA, OSHA, MHI Safety Training.

Work Environment

The position involves working aboard ships, requiring adherence to safety protocols. The environment is hands-on and dynamic, with a focus on maintaining shipboard electrical systems. Dress code and additional safety guidelines must be followed as per company policy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
