Department Facilities Job Purpose

The position is responsible for performing the part-time duties on CAD (Computer Assisted Drafting) for the Facilities Management department, as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Facilities Operations.

Essential Duties

  • Utilize specialized software (AutoCAD) to create technical drawings, plans, and blueprints for various engineering and architectural projects
  • Maintain CAD updates for the architectural drawings, revise layouts for campus event setups, and keep accurate building and space inventory
  • Coordinate and communicate with Administrators, staff, faculty and Facilities leadership to review their suggested projects and determine their needs and priorities in working to develop sketches of possible room layouts or configurations for event setups
  • Management of computer assisted drawing and facilities management system (Evolve FM) for tracking and upgrading floor plans, utilities, and other pertinent information for all University facilities
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and adhere to University standards

Additional Skills Required

  • Must be experienced in the use of personal computers and be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project
  • Must demonstrate superior time management, prioritization and client communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be able to multitask, managing multiple construction/maintenance projects simultaneously while maintaining University operations and meeting budget and schedule goals
  • Must have the ability to work with University management systems and a variety of skilled/unskilled, professional, administrative, and industry-related personnel
  • Strong understanding of drafting principles, engineering standards, and geometric concepts
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and make sound decisions
  • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University's Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Associate's degree in drafting, engineering, or architecture

Preferred Education Minimum Job Experience Requirements

  • Must have one (1) year of related experience
  • Must have proficiency in CAD software, a strong understanding of design principles, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, and other facilities staff
