The PEPS Central Service Center is looking for an outgoing engineer who is excited to help TxDOT deliver on our historic-sized Unified Transportation Plan (UTP) by procuring professional services to help our 19 Districts deliver their project portfolio. You will have the opportunity to lead selection teams through the procurement of engineering and surveying contracts all across the state of Texas. Position Description

Transportation Engineer III

Salary Group B26 $76,530 - $129,430

Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plans and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Transportation Engineer IV

Salary Group B27 $84,182 - $142,374

Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Transportation Engineer V

Salary Group B28 $92,600 - $156,612

Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or [research]. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.

Essential Duties:

Transportation Engineer III

Analyzes schedule trends, determines risks, and recommends options to management for corrective action for complex

projects.

Assesses and reports actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for complex

projects.

Analyzes and assists in the resolution of contract problems and disputes.

Coordinates and/or monitors assigned projects/programs/plans.

Develops, recommends, and implements modifications as necessary for continual improvement to the existing program of

responsibility.

Develops and/or reviews engineering-related documents, correspondence, reports, and remediation plans.

Develop training courses and/or materials.

Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff.

Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.

May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.

Prepares correspondence and/or detailed engineering surveys.

Trains engineering staff.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Transportation Engineer IV

All of the above and:

Advises on routine through complex contract questions in daily support of Division contract users.

Chairs or serves as a member of a contract selection team.

Coordinates with other Divisions and Districts on contracting issues and serves as the point of contact for their

professional services contracting program.

Develops short-term and long-term goals and coordinates planning activities and resources required to meet goals.

Oversees the processing and review of consultant selection documentation, contracts, and related documents through

execution.

Analyzes and recommends approval for the use of consultants and/or facility contracts.

Transportation Engineer V

All of the above and:

Reviews contracts and related documents for execution..

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (All Levels): Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS

Experience:

Transportation Engineer III- 6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience

Transportation Engineer IV- 7 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience

Transportation Engineer V- 8 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience

All Levels: Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Licensed Prof Engineer

Mandatory: Safety Impact Certificate

If performing underwater bridge inspections: Must have Open Water Diver certification.

For Bridge Inspection: Must have completed a comprehensive training course based on the Bridge Inspector's Training Manual or NICET Level III or IV certification in Bridge Safety Inspection within (1) year of the date of hire.

*Professional engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools

Talking expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken words

Hearing-perceive sound at normal speaking levels; receive information by oral communication

Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
