The Apprentice Cable Installer supports the installation of voice, data, and fiber optic cabling systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional environments. Under the supervision of experienced technicians, the apprentice will learn to install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber cables while maintaining job site safety and cleanliness.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in pulling, routing, and securing low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coax, etc.)
Assist with terminating and testing copper and fiber cable.
Learn how to read and follow cable pathway plans, blueprints, and job site drawings.
Install pathway components such as J-hooks, cable trays, conduit, and raceways.
Label and document cable runs and test results per project requirements.
Support more experienced installers/technicians with troubleshooting and repair tasks.
Maintain a clean and organized work area on job sites.
Follow all company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
