Job Title: Lead Project Manager
Summary:
The Lead Project Manager will oversee a small team of Project Managers while managing key customer projects from start to finish. This highly visible, leadership-focused role is responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards all while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
In addition to managing their own portfolio of projects, the Lead Project Manager will mentor, coach, and guide their team, ensuring consistent project execution and exceptional customer experiences. This role requires a highly motivated leader with proven experience inspiring teams, resolving complex project challenges, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of Project Managers, providing guidance on project planning, execution, and customer communications.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance check-ins, and project reviews to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Foster a high-performance culture that values accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
- Project Ownership
- Manage high-priority or complex projects from receipt of purchase order to final delivery.
- Serve as an escalation point for project risks, scope changes, and customer concerns.
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards, ensuring seamless coordination across internal departments.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the senior contact for key clients, providing proactive updates and resolving escalated issues.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
- Partner with Sales, Estimating, Drafting, Operations, and Finance teams to deliver on project requirements.
- Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in project management workflows, tools, and reporting methods.
- Standardize best practices across the PM team to drive efficiency, consistency, and quality.
- Contribute to strategic planning and resource allocation decisions.
- Financial Oversight
- Review and monitor budgets for assigned projects and support PM team members in managing their financial targets.
- Ensure accurate order entry, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or related field (preferred).
- PMP certification preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role .
- Proven ability to lead teams in a manufacturing, construction, or related technical environment.
- Strong understanding of fabrication and erection drawings, construction methods, and project cost management.
- Exceptional leadership skills able to inspire, coach, and hold others accountable.
- Strong decision-making ability under pressure, with a customer-focused mindset.
- Advanced organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM and project management software.
- High energy, proactive, and self-motivated with a passion for delivering results.
- Primarily office-based, with occasional travel to customer sites or job locations.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and remain seated for extended periods.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
