Bancroft is looking for a full-time Preconstruction Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide leadership, strategy, and guidance during the preconstruction phase of a project. You will be responsible for the project estimating/preconstruction team efforts while also fostering their professional development. Additionally, you will support the technical innovation required to keep Bancroft competitive in the marketplace.
Managing the preconstruction process requires working closely with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to tackle technical challenges throughout feasibility, design, estimating, bidding, and buyout. This role is key to a seamless transition from planning to execution. Its focus is on strategy, not just day-to-day tasks.
At Bancroft, we are on a LEAN Journey. Integrating LEAN practices and tools into the preconstruction process is a key initiative within the company. The Preconstruction Manager will play a strong role in incorporating and supporting the development of Target Value Delivery, Last Planner System, and other LEAN principles into preconstruction culture and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provides overall estimating coordination and strategy in preconstruction, which includes conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction level estimates.
- Support project team(s) in buyout, contract issuance, and project closeout.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement software and process upgrades to maintain Bancroft’s competitive edge in cost generation.
- Integrate strategic recommendations into existing processes and tools.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and design professionals.
- Success factors would include:
- Meeting backlog and conversion rate goals
- Sub-contractor participation in bids
- Strong internal communication and coordination
- Support the Pre-con team on well-produced bids that include high subcontractor participation, detailed scopes, VE options, and a thorough understanding of the job.
- Support the Pre-con team in developing timely and solution-based estimates from initial concepts through contract documents.
- Support the Business Development team with proposal development and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of AE disciplines for accurate estimating and bidding.
- Expertise in two or more of the following areas: architecture, civil, building shell, building finish, electrical, or HVAC.
- Proven experience leading and managing teams, including decision-making, judgment, respect for people, and delegation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in conceptual and lump-sum estimating, with a preference for experience on projects exceeding $20 million.
- Proficient with estimating processes, technology, and related industry trends.
- Advanced computer software skills, including proficiency in MS Suite, Procore, estimating software, database management, and an interest in developing AI tools within the construction industry.
- VDC and BIM capabilities or experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of trades, scopes, timelines, and scheduling/sequencing of work.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Enthusiastic problem-solving perspective.
- Customer Service focus and prioritization.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of (10+years) in related field.

Salary: $131,000 - $171,300
**Starting salary is based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
