HORIBA Instruments Inc., a leading manufacturer of scientific instruments, has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Engineer in our Piscataway, New Jersey location. The ideal candidate will be able to lead daily corrective action and quality control activities that keep manufacturing moving and improve the overall quality of our products and processes.

* This is a non-IT role.

Responsibilities include:

· Outgoing Quality Control for all gratings, including visual inspection and performance testing using fixtures

· Incoming inspection of grating blanks, mounts, and other grating parts per applicable sampling standard

· In-process quality control at appropriate points during manufacturing and sub-assembly

· Standardize inspection protocol for all gratings manufactured in the OSIS division

· Implement Identification and Traceability throughout the grating manufacturing process

· Participate in the Material Review Board for disposition of nonconforming grating parts

· Drive corrective action for process improvement by partnering with the Manufacturing Supervisor & Manufacturing Engineer

· Maintain all records in the gratings division as required by ISO 9001:2015 standard

· Conduct regular internal audits in the gratings division to catch and prevent potential issues from escalating

· Maintain calibration records on all fixtures, tools, and equipment used for the manufacturing of gratings

· Calculate and report key performance metrics for gratings

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in a related engineering discipline or sufficient experience in a technical role
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Very strong attention to small details and fine print
  • Must have the ability to focus during repetitive QC tasks
  • Should possess excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with different roles within the company
  • Must have the ability to multitask with excellent follow-through skills
  • 3 years of experience working in a quality or equivalent role within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 concepts
  • Must be able to work independently without constant supervision and produce on-time deliverables
  • A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success

Desired Skills

· Some knowledge of managing databases is a plus

· Knowledge of Statistics and Statistical Process Control preferred
