We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a proven background in highly regulated industries, such as nuclear energy, medical devices, or aerospace, to join our Auxiliary Systems Engineering Group. This role demands a strong understanding of compliance-driven design processes, documentation rigor, and safety-critical system development.
As the system owner for critical mechanical systemsincluding demineralized water, nitrogen gas handling, compressed oxygen, and nitrogen purge gasyou will oversee design, procurement, testing, and field implementation activities. Your experience in regulated environments will be essential to ensuring alignment with strict quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Salary Range: $100,000$130,500 annually, plus a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Final compensation is determined based on experience, role level, and location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the engineering lead and system owner for key auxiliary systems:
- Demineralized Water Systems
- Nitrogen Handling Systems
- Chemical Reagent Systems
- Nitrogen Purge Systems
- General and Radiological HVAC Systems
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- 6+ years of engineering experience in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, medical device, aerospace, pharmaceutical)
- Proven ability to manage complex technical systems and projects in compliance-focused environments
- Strong technical documentation skills and experience with formal design review processes
- Demonstrated understanding of QA/QC processes and regulated documentation controls
- Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of engineering experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience working within a nuclear quality assurance program or medical device QMS
- Familiarity with ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code and/or ASME Section III
- Exposure to seismic design, fluid system modeling, and pressure boundary systems
- Hands-on experience supporting construction sites or system commissioning
- Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks, and AutoPIPE
- Familiarity with NFPA 801 and fire protection design is a plus
- Knowledge in one or more of the following:
- Thermal-fluid system design
- Valve and instrumentation specification
- Filtration and tank systems
- Clean or sterile gas systems (beneficial for candidates from the medical device industry)
