Construction Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to analyze drawings, specifications, and requests for proposals (RFPs) to determine the scope of work and required resources. The role involves performing detailed quantity take-offs using both estimating software and manual methods, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes for labor, materials, and equipment, and developing comprehensive bid packages and proposals for both public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and RFPs to determine scope of work and required resources.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs using estimating software and manual methods.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Develop comprehensive bid packages and proposals for public and private sector clients.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client walkthroughs to gather project intelligence.
• Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure constructability and value engineering.
• Maintain historical cost data and update pricing databases regularly.
• Track bid outcomes and provide feedback to improve future estimating strategies.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in exterior restoration or specialty trades.
• Strong knowledge of masonry, roofing systems, waterproofing techniques, concrete repair, and facade restoration.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar).
• Familiarity with NYC building codes, DOB filings, and prevailing wage requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.

• Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• PMP certification.

The role will start out remotely and eventually transition into a hybrid work environment. This position offers the opportunity to lead the estimating department in a few years as part of a growing contracting firm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Great Neck, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
