The Carpenter-Painter is responsible for performing skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of hospital facilities, furnishings, and equipment. This includes both carpentry and painting tasks to ensure a safe, functional, and visually appealing environment that supports patient care and hospital operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Carpentry Responsibilities:
Construct, install, and repair woodwork, cabinetry, doors, windows, partitions, and other structural elements.
Perform finish carpentry including molding, trim, and hardware installation.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders.
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on hospital infrastructure.
Painting Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming.
Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
Mix and match paint colors and finishes as needed.
Maintain painting tools and equipment in good working condition.
Ensure proper ventilation and safety procedures during painting operations.
General Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
Collaborate with other trades and departments to complete projects efficiently.
Follow infection control protocols and safety regulations.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in carpentry and painting, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in using carpentry and painting tools and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for detailed work.

Work is performed in various areas of the hospital including patient care areas, administrative offices, and exterior grounds.
Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals associated with carpentry and painting.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
