Cleared Marine Electrician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated 1st Class Marine Electrician with an active secret security clearance or one held within the last 24 months. This role involves repairing and overhauling submarines and requires candidates to provide their own personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. The position does not require specific medical qualifications. Responsibilities Perform repairs and overhauls on submarines. Utilize trade mathematics and formulas to calculate voltage, amperes, and resistance requirements. Determine necessary materials such as controls, switches, distribution panels, fuses, cables, and conduit sizes. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, technical instructions, and manuals. Plan and create working diagrams and circuits. Use various types of electrical and electronic measuring instruments competently. Essential Skills Active secret security clearance or recent clearance within 24 months. Graduate of high school, GED equivalent, trade school, industrial school, or appropriate military school. Six years of experience as a Marine Electrician or a licensed Marine Electrician Journeyman. Working knowledge of trade mathematics and ability to calculate electrical requirements. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents and creating working diagrams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a Machinist Mate, Engineman, or Electrician's Mate is advantageous. Familiarity with marine electrical systems and environments. Work Environment The work will be conducted in a shipyard environment, requiring candidates to provide their own personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. The project period runs through January 31st, with potential for extension and direct hire opportunities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.
