JOB SUMMARY:

The CMT Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction materials testing and inspection services. This includes reviewing project specifications, performing quantity take-offs, and developing proposals for contractors and clients. They collaborate with engineering personnel, ensuring estimates align with technical requirements and industry standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze project documents (plans, specifications) to identify materials testing requirements.
  • Generate accurate cost estimates for field and lab testing services, manage proposals workload, provide proposal review.
  • Communicate with prospective clients regarding project bid status, scope needs.
  • Prepare and present clear, comprehensive proposals to clients.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure technical accuracy of estimates.
  • Updating bid calendar, scheduling and coordinating estimate due dates

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Must demonstrate a strong understanding of math and computer aptitude.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Well versed in project specifications.
  • In depth understanding of construction drawings.
  • Estimating experience and proficiency in estimation software preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelors degree in Construction Management preferred. some post-secondary education preferred

Experience and/or Training Three years related experience, in building, site construction or engineering field preferred.

Licenses/Certificates Drivers license

Technology/Equipment Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Essential: Hearing and vision (both correctable), continuous sitting or standing at desk or workstation, wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation, other physical requirements typical of working on a computer and talking on a phone (65%-100% of the time worked); frequent walking, lifting or carrying up to 10 lbs, turning and twisting (30%-64% of the time worked); occasional reaching, lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs, and push/pull up to 10 lbs (11%-29% of the time worked); rarely taste/smell, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, lifts or scaffolding (0-9% of the time worked).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work/Environment

Usually will be an office environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties; frequent interruptions throughout day likely. Sometimes will be a jobsite environment which can be outside in all weather conditions and/or tightly enclosed areas and can have uneven walking surfaces.

Travel Requirements

Position may require offsite travel (locally and throughout United States), typically 5-8% annually.

Compensation Range:

$58,100.00 - $87,100.00
