SUMMARY
The HVAC BIM Detailer will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and shop drawings for HVAC ductwork systems. coordinating with other trades, and supporting the fabrication and installation processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, sheet metal fabrication, and BIM coordination tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing the following regularly or as a backup:
Create accurate 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit
Generate detailed shop drawings fabrication and installation
Use Navisworks to run clash detection and resolve conflicts with other systems
Coordinate with other trade detailers to ensure integrated designs
Communicate with design teams, contractors, project managers, and field personnel
Manage project documentation, including submittals, emails, and design changes
Troubleshoot and resolve design challenges during coordination and installation

REQUIRED SKILLS
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; Revit experience strongly preferred
Must have a strong knowledge of HVAC ductwork systems and sheet metal fabrication
Experience with Navisworks and clash detection processes
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Field installation experience is a plus

This position primarily involves computer-based work, requiring extended periods of sitting and focused attention to detail while using design software such as AutoCAD and Revit. The position requires the ability to perceive and process visual information, which is essential for interpreting technical drawings and 3D models, as well as manual dexterity for precise input and navigation within BIM tools. While most duties are performed in an office or detailing shop, occasional visits to active construction sites may be necessary. These visits can involve walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, and lifting materials or equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Strong verbal and written communication are also critical for coordinating with project teams and field personnel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The typical work environment is a combination of office and field settings. Most responsibilities are carried out in a professional office or shop environment, where focus is on digital modeling, coordination, and documentation. However, the role may also require site visits to active construction areas, where conditions can vary based on weather, project phase, and site activity. These environments may include exposure to dust, debris, loud noises, and other typical construction site elements. The position demands adaptability, situational awareness, and a commitment to safety, especially when working in dynamic, fast-paced field conditions. Collaboration with multiple teams is frequent, making strong communication and teamwork essential.
