What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Project Engineer will support the safe and timely execution of the projects in Longview, TX. Responsible for engineering phases of projects, from preliminary funding and feasibility, through FEED, detailed design, and construction.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Must be a self-starter, capable of working independently

  • Works in full compliance with all site processes and procedures, relevant statutory procedures, and corresponding standards and specifications

  • Responsible for the coordination of all information flows within assigned projects and for compliance with the agreed document storage systems

  • Will work closely with the main Engineering Contractor and the Project Team members to follow-up on cost estimates and schedules, and to formulate execution strategies

  • Works with the Project Manager, Engineering Manager, and Project Controls personnel to report progress, identify cost and schedule deviations and to communicate work projections

  • Identifies potential Project issues, communicates with the appropriate personnel, contributes creative solutions and drives agreed solutions to closure

  • Ensures that appropriately skilled personnel are assigned to project tasks

  • Contributes to proposals, quotes and contracts for equipment, construction- and engineering-services.

  • Works with site personnel, contractors, and vendors to evaluate technical details and logistics to define the scope and schedule for all phases of assigned projects

  • Reviews the Project Master schedule and ensures a sound execution logic

  • Participate in all key project reviews, such as plot reviews, P&IDs, HAZOP, Plant Control and Operation


Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: At least 2 years of stage gate capital project experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the FEL process and phased project development

  • Excellent communication, coordination and team leadership skills with a driving personality

  • Knowledge of the Hargrove project execution procedures.

  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.

  • Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.

  • Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.

  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex technical issues coordination and resolution.

  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.

  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.

  • Ability to handle stress with poise.

  • Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.

  • Ability to delegate authority appropriately.

  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.

  • Organizational skills, ability to set priorities.

  • Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
