About the Role:

As an Engineering Operations Manager at CBRE, you will direct a team dedicated to supervising and optimizing all mechanical and electrical systems across a facility, campus, or portfolio of buildings. Your leadership will ensure flawless execution of operational strategies, maintenance protocols, and system performance.

This role falls within the Engineering and Technical Services function, which focuses on delivering expert support, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs for critical equipment and infrastructure.

Join the CBRE Engineering Team in providing Facilities excellence is a 400 sq. ft. Bio Research/Pharmaceutical Site in Cambridge with free parking.

What You'll Do:

Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

Coordinate and lead the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.

Assist team with operations and maintenance issues, and provide hands on assistance if necessary.

Direct contractors, subcontractors, and engineers on the entire maintenance aspect.

Supervise and run the daily operation of facility controls and asset management systems.

Experience in a vivarium and Level BSL2/BSL 3 laboratories

Expected to effectively to interact well with peers, subordinates, and senior personnel in scientific, engineering, and operational subject areas.

Experience with complex Service Contracts

Perform duties with a swift decision making

Understanding relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company-specific standards to ensure all activities align with legal and corporate requirements.

Has an understanding of complex HVAC requirements for Vivarium's and BSL2/BSL3 laboratories

Detailed understanding of statutory legislation responsibilities in a technically advanced environment (Massachusetts boiler license and waste water regulations)

Strong technical knowledge of risk management and safety principles in lab environments

Carry out and merge customer engineering, maintenance standards, and requirements into the facility maintenance program and any configuration changes.

Support preparation of annual operating budgets. Evaluate, forecast, and handle operations and maintenance costs for a specific location.

Schedule maintenance activities following customer operational requirements.

Assist in analyzing operational metrics related to engineering performance.

Drive continuous improvement and innovation. Support the undertaking of peer reviews, site assessments, and technical competence evaluations.

Integrate with clients for reconfiguration, changes, and operational requirements.

Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.

knowledge of own field and how own subject area integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.

Identify, solve, and resolve day-to-day and moderately sophisticated issues that may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of validated experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

Membership of an Engineering related professional body i.e. CIBSE/ IEE preferred.

Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Eng Ops Mgr position is $120,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Eng Ops Mgr position is $135,000 annually . The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
