The Sr Estimator is responsible for managing and executing all estimating activities and customer management functions within Landmark's fabrication facility. This role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates, developing proposals, and supporting business development efforts for fabricated tanks, ASME pressure vessels, and custom projects. The Sr Estimator serves as a key client manager and strategic partner, ensuring contract soundness, scope clarity, and profitable execution. The position requires strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes, codes, and industry standards, as well as the ability to maintain long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of estimating fabrication projects, including detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid preparation.
  • Develop and review scopes of work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with business development, project management, engineering, and fabrication teams to develop pricing strategies and win work.
  • Detect risks early in the proposal process and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead subcontractor and vendor selection, obtain quotations, and perform evaluations for quality, cost, and compliance.
  • Prepare and present detailed project budgets for management approval.
  • Manage negotiation and change order processes in coordination with project management.
  • Establish, refine, and implement estimating procedures, tools, and best practices to improve the accuracy and efficiency of proposals.
  • Analyze contract terms and conditions to ensure favorable and sound agreements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage customer relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned clients throughout the estimating and proposal process.
  • Built and maintain strong, long-term relationships, proactively communicate with clients to understand their needs, provide timely updates, and ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, fabrication methods, codes, and regulatory requirements to support accurate estimates.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors consistent with Landmark's Mission, Vision, and Values by modeling integrity, accountability, and customer focus.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the company's strategic goals

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction science, engineering, business, or a related field required.
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive estimating experience in fabrication, construction, or related industries.
  • Strong background in heavy plate projects, including ASME pressure vessels, API 650 tanks, shop-built and knock-down tanks, cones, and dome roofs.
  • Proven expertise in contract administration, proposal development, and customer management.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Experience with estimating software and ERP systems preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Professional certifications in estimating, project management, or engineering (e.g., AACE, PMI) preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license.
