Laborer Recycling Part Time

Individual works under the direction of the Recycling Foreman and will be responsible for unloading, separating, and processing recyclable materials. Other duties and responsibilities will include maintaining a clean work area, cleaning the plant work area, and baler operation.

• Unloads, processes, and separates recyclable materials.
• May be required to assist in the curbside pickup of recyclable material on assigned routes.
• May be required to operate a fork lift or skid steer.
• May be required to operate a vertical and horizontal baler.
• Loads material for shipping.
• Cleans work area and plant as required.
• Performs daily preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Reports problems or unusual situations to the supervisor.
• This department performs the duties of public works and may require employees to perform a variety of other assigned duties.
• Shifts may vary according to the needs of the city.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to recognize and separate recyclable materials.
• Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with co-workers and the public.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to operate vertical and horizontal balers.
• Ability to use and follow safety procedures, regulations, and equipment.
• Ability to provide curbside Service.
• Ability to load and unload trailers.

Physical Demands (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Ability to stoop, bend, and lift recyclable materials.
• Work schedule may vary according to the needs of the department.
• Ability to work in and around moving equipment and vehicles.
