Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations for infrastructure and site development projects across Westchester County, NY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in excavation, underground utilities, grading, paving, and drainage, and will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily field operations on heavy civil construction projects.
  • Supervise and schedule crews for grading, drainage, paving, milling, and utility installation.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to plan work activities, safety protocols, and logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules; provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Train and mentor Foremen, Equipment Operators, and Laborers.
  • Assist with survey and field layout as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and productivity on-site.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a superintendent role.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methods and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • OSHA 10 certification and First Aid certification required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with Westchester County regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience with public works or municipal contracts.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment includes managing projects with sizes ranging from $50k to $52M. The company is a Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) with a total workforce of 60 people, including 12-15 in the office. It operates with an annual budget of $25-$30M. The role requires proficiency in project management and estimating software, and involves working on commercial construction, safety, and construction management. The dress code is professional, and there may be requirements to work flexible hours, including some weekends.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/hr.
