West Chester Area School District has the following position available in the Facilities & Operations Department:

1.0 - Electrician #2

SUMMARY :

The Electrician is responsible for maintaining the districts electrical systems and to provide and maintain a safe working and learning environment for the staff and students. Must be available for emergencies and off hours work as needed.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS :

  • Reports directly to the Supervisor of Central Maintenance
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff and others to perform job responsibilities as outlined

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

  1. 12 month (260-262 days)
  2. Salary & Benefits are as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.(Group 2 starting at $26.01 per hour)
QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

  • High School diploma or equivalent necessary
  • Valid PA drivers license
  • Minimum two (2) years Journeyman level electrical experience
  • Proficiency in the use of computers (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Knowledge and understanding of latest National Electrical Codes
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, etc. using trade terminology
  • Ability to work alone and with little supervision
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside professional contacts

Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Able to stand or walk eighty percent (80%) of workday, stoop, kneel, crouch and sit; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; Ability to work at heights utilizing ladders, cranes, buckets, etc. up to but not limited to 70 feet; Requires use of both hands for repetitive motion; Able to work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees; Have the ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 70 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Diagnose electrical problems and determine corrective action.
  1. Maintain and install all electrical equipment.
  1. Must be skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment to properly and accurately trace, locate, diagnose, and repair malfunctions in equipment.
  1. Perform designated repairs as required and maintain proper record of repairs.
  1. Design, schedule and perform preventative maintenance program of electrical equipment.
  1. Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, to include fire alarms, security equipment, lighting controls, public announcement systems, intercoms, electrical systems, and make necessary repairs.
  1. Responsible for maintaining working phone lines, trouble shooting, repairing and/or replacing as needed.
  1. Responsible for installing new electrical circuits, lines, breakers, conduit, raceways, etc. as needed.
  1. Work collaboratively with others in the electrical department to maintain and install all electrical equipment.
  1. Perform essential tasks as needed, 24/7 with limited notice.
  1. All other duties as assigned.
