Summary:

As a CDL Truck Driver you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting material and items to designated destinations. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will perform skilled work in the operation of a variety of complex heavy construction equipment. This position also involves manual labor task. Work in cooperation with other Departments, Managers, Co-Workers both within the Division of Public Works (DPW) and within the Oneida Nation.

Responsibilities:

* Operate commercial vehicles, including Quad Axle Dump Truck, smaller dump trucks or other specified vehicles requiring a Class B CDL and comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT), state, local and Oneida Nation's rules and regulations in the operation of all trucks and dump trucks. a. Pick up or self-load and haul mound black dirt or aggregate. b. Prepare black dirt running it through screener.
* Operate heavy equipment to include front end loader, excavators, backhoes, forklift, skid steer, tractors and other equipment as required or requested.
* Maintain equipment and vehicles by greasing, cleaning, washing.
* Operate equipment to excavate and backfill trenches for well work and water lines.
* Operate equipment to grade and landscape for mound and septic installations.
* Operate equipment to install water and sewer laterals.
* Carry out duties assigned by Department Supervisors and Manager.
* Use hand tools necessary to do all routine preventative maintenance to include: pre and post vehicle and equipment inspections, checking batteries, lights, engine fluids, greasing of equipment, and other related care products.
* Report all defective and dangerous equipment or conditions to supervisors.
* Ability to work as a team member and foster a positive working environment
* Work in cooperation with co-workers, supervisors, managers, other trades, vendors, other governments, and homeowners for installs, repairs and maintenance.
* Must present a professional appearance and demeanor as a representative of the Oneida Nation in dealing with the general public.

Skills:

Essential:
* Knowledge of applicable Oneida Nation, federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements
* Ability to work with little or no supervision
* Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures required when operating equipment and performing truck driving duties
* A valid driver's license or occupational driver's license is required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver's license or occupational driver's license within thirty (30) days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver's license. Must be authorized as eligible to operate a Tribal vehicle under the Oneida Nation's Vehicle Driver Certification and Fleet Management Law prior to actual start date. Must maintain driver's eligibility as a condition of employment.
* Knowledge and ability to operate dump trucks and trucks with or without trailers.
* Knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment to include: front end loaders, excavators, backhoes, skid steer, and tractors.

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* General Ed, High School Equivalency Diploma, HS Diploma
* Applicants age 50 and older are exempt from this requirement

Credentials:
* Tribal Vehicle Driver

Essential:
* Class B Commercial Driver's License.
Nonessential:
* Class A Commercial Driver's License.

* Ability and willingness to be on call twenty-four (24) hours a day and work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Experience:

Essential:
* Two (2) years' of experience operating heavy equipment or dump trucks.
Nonessential:
* One (1) year of experience driving semi-tractor with trailer.

Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
