The Town of Marana has a vacant position in the Building Safety Division for a Building Inspector I. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in having a direct impact serving the community. This position inspects residential projects and ensures all buildings adhere to the latest adopted codes and regulations.

Expected Hiring Range: $24.31 - $29.78/hour
- Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget.
Salary Range: $24.31 - $35.25/hour
- Inspects all residential projects by ensuring compliance with approved design to include residential solar systems and swimming pools.
- Ensures all codes and regulations are met.
- Provides customer service regarding the permitting and inspection process.
- Coordinates inspections with contractors, builders and homeowners.
- Communicates with various residents, contractors and officials.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training.
- Over one year experience in a related field.
- Residential Certifications:
- Must obtain one certification within the first six months and an additional certification within one year of employment of the following:
- Building, Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing.
- Must obtain one certification within the first six months and an additional certification within one year of employment of the following:
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Arizona driver license.
- Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Over one year experience in residential project inspections.
