Job Description:
Serves as the direct supervisor of Intermountain maintenance and facilities management staff in the assigned area or discipline, and is responsible to ensure proper maintenance, repair, operation, and efficiency of all plant assets. Works directly with a Facility Manager in assigning, organizing, and overseeing compliant and efficient daily work.Schedule- Monday-Friday 8-5pm with some evening and weekend work on occasion
Scope
This is a facilities leadership role directly supporting the Facility Manager II with medium-size site accountability in terms of facilities square footage. This position is responsible to provide daily direction and oversight of building operations and maintenance staff and work for hospitals, clinics, and other supporting space at Intermountain Healthcare. The type of work and number of staff assigned may vary.
Job Essentials
Implements successful maintenance practices into a facility's daily operations by working collaboratively with facility operations officers, caregivers within a facility, facilities staff, and Corporate Construction, Capital Planning, and Compliance departments.
Works to implement strategies, and projects and programs that promote safety, collaboration, and teamwork among employees and stakeholders.
Executes centrally developed facilities operations and operational best practices, including those around compliance, and regulatory agencies.
Coordinates with stakeholders during planning and execution of facility operation activities to assure safety, compliance, and continuity of business operations.
Assists in the development of site operating budgets for facilities improvements and operations.
Leads team to support and adopt best practices working toward continuous improvement.
Stays abreast of best practices, new technologies, and acts as a subject matter expert and resource to others, advising on best practices and process improvement.
Answers questions presented by key stakeholders about the services and products being delivered and develops efforts and methods to resolve conflicts.
May serve as the facility representative at local meetings and functions, representing facilities operations and discussing relevant objectives and plans.
Consults with facilities leadership on questions related to growth of facilities and expansion of service lines affecting facilities.
Works with the Facility Manager to implement staffing best practice, minimum job competencies, education, and roles and responsibilities.
Provides supervisory oversight to ensure quality, safety, compliance, and adherence to standards to protect the value of Intermountain?s capital facilities investment through proper maintenance performance.
Implements site policies and procedures, and product and equipment standardization to realize compliance and operational efficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of facilities maintenance experience.

Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, internet, email, and maintenance management applications.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering, Facility Management, Construction Management, or a work-related field.
Licensure or Certification in a trade.
Facilities maintenance experience in a healthcare setting.

Demonstrated familiarity with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission requirements relating to the Environment of Care.

The position partners closely with the Program Manager and supports execution of work within active healthcare environments, requiring strict adherence to Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM).

Lead and participate in daily construction activities as a working supervisor
Execute daily work plans aligned with project schedule and production targets
Coordinate and sequence multi-trade work to maintain a 46 week room turnover cycle
Ensure efficient workflow and continuous progress across assigned work areas

Trade Supervision & Crew Management
Provide direct supervision of in-house trade staff including carpentry, electrical, HVAC/plumbing, and finishes
Assign daily tasks and manage workforce allocation to meet production goals
Monitor productivity (manhours vs. plan) and adjust staffing as needed
Support hiring, onboarding, and development of multi-skilled trade team members

Short-Interval Scheduling & Coordination
Develop and manage 2-week lookahead schedules and daily task plans
Sequence work activities (demolition, rough-in, inspections, close-in, finishes)
Identify and resolve field conflicts proactively to avoid delays
Coordinate with Program Manager on schedule performance and constraints

Infection Control (ICRA) Implementation
Enforce all infection control requirements including:
o Dust containment and barriers
o Negative air systems and pressure monitoring
o HEPA filtration
Maintain required documentation including daily logs and inspection records
Coordinate cleaning protocols and infection control inspections
Ensure compliance with PPE and hospital infection control standards

Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM)
Maintain safe and compliant egress paths at all times
Coordinate fire system impairments and fire watch activities as required
Install and maintain temporary signage, barriers, and safety controls
Ensure adherence to hospital life safety requirements during construction

Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce OSHA standards
Ensure compliance with hospital-specific safety protocols
Monitor work activities for risks related to noise, vibration, and patient impact
Promote a culture of safety and accountability among all team members

Quality Control
Perform first-in-place inspections and ongoing quality checks
Verify work meets construction documents, specifications, and healthcare standards
Manage punch lists and ensure timely completion of corrective work
Maintain consistency and quality across repetitive room installations

Pre-Construction Field Setup
Implement site logistics plans including staging and material flow
Install temporary construction barriers, anterooms, and containment systems
Verify existing conditions, utilities, and tie-in points prior to work start
Support constructability review and field readiness

Hospital Operations Coordination
Coordinate daily with hospital staff, nursing units, and facilities personnel
Manage access, shutdowns, and operational impacts to minimize disruption
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite environment
Ensure work activities align with patient care priorities

Materials & Logistics
Track material deliveries and maintain inventory for repetitive work cycles
Coordinate just-in-time deliveries to support limited space constraints
Prevent delays through proactive material planning and coordination

Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily reports including labor tracking, production progress, and issues
Document ICRA, safety, and quality compliance activities
Report status, risks, and performance metrics to Program Manager
Support continuous improvement through feedback and lessons learned

Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or related field
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate multi-trade work in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in occupied or regulated environments (healthcare preferred)
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Experience with basic computer applications and construction documentation tools
