Summary

The Welder Technician, Associate is responsible for all aspects of refurbishing and repairing rail car components. This position ensures that all work is done in compliance with The Association of American Railroads, customer quality control requirements, and all company guidelines and safety rules are followed when performing duties.

Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

Complies with The Association of American Railroads regulations, quality assurance standards, and Greenbrier Rail Services Environmental Health and Safety policies

Performs assigned tasks under the direction of Supervisor and department leader and notifies Supervisor or department leader of materials and/or equipment needed to complete job tasks

Performs required refurbishing and/or repairs to rail car components using welders, grinders, cutting torches, and air arching

Performs minor repairs to tools and equipment to maintain them in good working order

Interacts with Supervisor and team members in a team environment and assists in the training and coaching of new employees when required

Maintains and establishes basic knowledge and fundamentals of The Association of American Railroads repair procedures

Performs set up and operation of metal working tools such as welder, grinder, cutting torches, and other tools related to the work process

Complies with special processes assigned, based on work orders

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail

Ability to use measuring equipment such as a ruler and other precision measuring equipment.

Ability to work and communicate within a team setting

Ability to use machines and tools that are used for welding, cutting, gouging, inspecting, and testing

Experience with the following welding processes: burning, air arc, and grinding

Valid Driver's License is required for positions in Modesto, CA

Preferred Qualifications

One + years work experience in a manufacturing environment
