Shipfitter - LOCATED ON SITE IN Charleston, SC - This is a traveling position to Charleston, SC Per Diem Offered Pay: $45/hr Per Diem: $140/day (for qualified travelers) Schedule: Fulltime, longterm opportunity We are seeking experienced Shipfitters for a major shipbuilding and repair project in the Charleston, SC area. This is a highlevel skilled trade position requiring strong structural fitting experience within shipyard environments. Position Overview The Shipfitter will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing structural components on naval and commercial vessels. This role requires precision, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and experience working in fastpaced shipyard environments. Responsibilities Layout, fit, and fabricate metal structures according to blueprints and specifications Install bulkheads, foundations, decks, frames, and other structural components Perform cutting, grinding, burning, and tack welding as needed Use measuring tools, levels, squares, and shipyard equipment Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in various shipyard conditions Collaborate with welders, pipefitters, and other trades to complete assigned tasks Follow all safety protocols and shipyard procedures Requirements Minimum 5 years of shipfitting experience (required) ON A SHIPYARD PREVIOUSLY Strong blueprint reading and layout skills Proficiency with hand tools, torches, grinders, and shipyard equipment Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights Reliable transportation and ability to work full shifts Must be able to lift, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks Compensation & Benefits $45 per hour, based on experience $140/day per diem for eligible travelers Longterm, stable project Overtime opportunities may be available Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mobile, AL.
