Job Description This role oversees daily field operations for a major high-end residential renovation and addition while also supporting core project management functions. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules, and maintain thorough documentation, all while working in an owner-occupied home and interacting professionally with the homeowners. The position is ideal for a construction professional who can operate as a hybrid Superintendent and Assistant Project Manager, taking ownership of both field execution and administrative project tasks from start to finish. Responsibilities
- Support and oversee daily site operations to ensure all work aligns with plans, schedule, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate subcontractors on site, manage trade sequencing, and ensure smooth execution of renovation and addition scopes.
- Handle RFIs, submittals, contracts, and change orders, often serving as the first point of contact for initiating and tracking change orders.
- Maintain accurate daily logs and project documentation using construction management software, including consistent use of BuilderTrend or similar tools.
- Manage and organize project documentation related to cost-plus structures, including tracking, reporting, and supporting billing documentation as needed.
- Interface professionally and respectfully with homeowners in an occupied residence, clearly communicating schedule impacts, site conditions, and daily activities.
- Collaborate closely and continuously with the Project Manager and Superintendent to align field activities with overall project goals and timelines.
- Attend weekly office meetings to provide detailed progress updates, discuss upcoming work, and identify any risks or issues that need resolution.
- Ensure the jobsite remains clean, organized, and presentable at all times, with particular attention to safety and cleanliness in an owner-occupied home with small children.
- Review and become thoroughly familiar with project plans and specifications, including a detailed 75-page plan set, prior to and during on-site work.
- Prepare the site at the start of each day by meeting with subcontractors, answering questions, confirming work areas, and setting clear expectations.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to verify work quality, adherence to plans, and compliance with safety requirements, and document findings in daily reports.
- Monitor and regularly update construction management software throughout the day to reflect current status, daily logs, and any changes in scope or schedule.
- Assist with structural and complex renovation conditions, including coordination of shoring and structural support activities where required.
- Act as a reliable on-site resource, including handling occasional runs to suppliers such as home improvement and building material vendors to support field needs.
- 1015+ years of construction experience with a strong focus on field operations.
- 1020 years of experience in construction management or related roles.
- Proven background in high-end residential renovations and additions, including recent experience in this segment.
- Experience in commercial construction that is complemented by substantial residential experience is acceptable.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a hybrid field and project management resource, balancing site supervision with administrative project tasks.
- Proficiency with construction management software, with the ability to manage RFIs, submittals, contracts, daily logs, and change orders digitally.
- Experience using BuilderTrend or the ability to quickly learn and leverage BuilderTrend for daily logs, documentation, and communication.
- Strong capability to independently manage documentation, contracts, and change orders from initiation through completion.
- Experience handling RFIs, submittals, and change orders in a structured, time-sensitive environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working in owner-occupied homes, including direct interaction with homeowners.
- Ability and willingness to work fully on site with only occasional office visits, maintaining consistent presence at the project.
- Familiarity with structural support, shoring, or complex renovation conditions, with the ability to coordinate related work safely and effectively.
- Experience acting partially as a Project Manager, including responsibility for change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
- Any hands-on or coordination experience with shoring or complex structural renovation conditions is a significant plus.
- Experience supervising high-end residential projects involving kitchens, interior renovations, and garage or addition work.
- Comfort using Procore or other construction management platforms, with the ability to transfer those skills to BuilderTrend.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation for cost-plus projects.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, internal team members, and homeowners.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norwalk, CT.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
