We are currently seeking a skilled Plumber to join our campus facilities team.

Position Summary

The Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of plumbing systems across a college campus. This includes water supply systems, drainage systems, fixtures, and related mechanical components. The ideal candidate is experienced in commercial or institutional plumbing, safety-focused, and capable of responding quickly to maintenance and emergency service needs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, piping, fixtures, valves, and related equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and system failures
  • Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Repair or replace toilets, sinks, faucets, water heaters, pumps, and sewer lines
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Perform preventive maintenance on campus plumbing infrastructure
  • Respond to emergency plumbing calls, including after-hours and on-call situations
  • Ensure compliance with plumbing codes, OSHA regulations, and campus safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and service logs
  • Coordinate with other maintenance trades and contractors on campus projects
  • Support renovations, upgrades, and new construction projects as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred (based on state/local requirements)
  • 3+ years of commercial, institutional, or industrial plumbing experience
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, materials, and repair techniques
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
  • Experience with troubleshooting complex plumbing systems in large facilities
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a facilities team
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on campus needs
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Work in confined spaces such as crawlspaces, utility tunnels, and mechanical rooms
  • Exposure to wet conditions, varying temperatures, and occasional unpleasant environments
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic plumbing equipment safely
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergency repair situations
