Job Description

This role focuses on providing drafting and design support for water resources projects, including water treatment plants and pump stations. The Civil Drafter will use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce accurate drawings and assist with grade work and yard piping layouts, contributing directly to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects and offering strong opportunities for career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed civil drawings and plans for water treatment plants and pump stations using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Support the water resources team with design work, ensuring drawings meet project specifications and standards.
  • Assist with grade work design, including grading plans and related civil site layouts.
  • Develop and update yard piping layouts and associated details for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Coordinate drafting work with engineers and other team members to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback from project engineers and project managers.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and documentation to support project workflows.
  • Follow established drafting standards, templates, and procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil drafting and design.
  • Experience preparing civil drawings for water-related infrastructure such as water treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Ability to assist with grade work design and yard piping layouts.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other project team members.
  • Solid understanding of basic civil engineering and site design concepts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is heavily preferred.
  • Experience working on water resources, water treatment, or pump station projects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with grading plans and civil site design is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple drawing tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a civil engineering and water resources team.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment in Frankfort, KY, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role involves daily use of AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software on standard office computer equipment. The work setting is professional and collaborative, with close interaction with engineers and other technical staff. The schedule is stable and full-time, providing a consistent workweek in a traditional office setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Frankfort, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
