Residential Construction In House Draftsperson

  • Palmer, Alaska
  • Full Time
ABOUT THE ROLE

We build single-family homes year round and need someone in-house who understands how a house actually goes together, not just how to draw one. This is a full-time position working directly with our team on construction documents, plan sets, and design changes from preconstruction through framing submittal.

If you've spent time swinging a hammer, framing walls, or running a job site and you're ready to move off the tools, we want to talk to you. We'll train the right person on Chief Architect if you don't already know it. What we can't train is knowing the difference between a structural ridge and a supported one, or how a window header interacts with the king stud.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Produce and revise plan sets for permit submittal and field use
Coordinate with project managers and subs on design changes and field conditions
Translate client requests into buildable drawings
Catch construction problems before they hit the field
Maintain organized drawing files and revision history

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Real framing or construction experience on single-family homes. This is the non-negotiable
Working knowledge of residential building systems (structural, mechanical rough-in, envelope)
Experience with Chief Architect, AutoCAD, or similar drafting software is preferred, but we'll train someone solid
Able to read a plan set and spot what's missing or wrong
Self-directed, you don't need someone looking over your shoulder
Comfortable in a small company where you wear more than one hat

TO APPLY

Send a brief note telling us about your construction background and any drafting experience you have. Attach a resume if you have one, but a few honest sentences about what you've built matters more. We read every reply.
