Job DescriptionAECOMs Water Group is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to help design and lead water infrastructure projects (wastewater, water, pump stations and industrial facilities). This position is based out of Burnaby , British Columbia office with opportunities for hybrid work. Some travel to nearby cities may be required. This role offers opportunities for career growth.
AECOMs Water Group is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team involved in challenging municipal and private sector projects.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical building projects through design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Prepare design reports, technical memorandums, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Develop design concepts, detailed designs, and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Design HVAC systems, including centralized plants, packaged units, and hydronic systems.
- Design plumbing systems, including potable water, drainage, compressed air, and natural gas systems.
- Design boiler, energy recovery, and fire protection systems.
- Perform HVAC load calculations, system analysis, and mechanical sizing calculations.
- Design HVAC controls integrated with Building Management Systems (BMS) and SCADA platforms.
- Select equipment, prepare schedules, and coordinate with suppliers and vendors.
- Support the development of 3D mechanical models and drawings using Revit.
- Apply sustainable design principles; experience with LEED, Envision, or similar frameworks is an asset.
- Conduct quality control reviews of designs, calculations, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Perform site inspections, prepare field reports, and support construction activities.
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide technical guidance during project execution.
- Assists mechanical engineering team manager with mentoring junior engineering staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.
- Eight (8)+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and control systems for water and industrial facilities.
- Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
