NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National ParkService (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise,facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad arrayof other professional skills that support the National Park Service through theExperienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period.Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions istemporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee isan ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminateenrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and theAgency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEWSolutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established througha Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

This position is funded for up 288 total hours.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in Historic Architecture or related OR BA/BSDegree in Historic Architecture or related

Significant experience providing guidance on complex historic preservationissues that is professionally competent and in accordance with relevant laws,policies and standards; experience developing and executing multi-disciplinaryprojects focused on the study, documentation, assessment, treatment andmonitoring of archeological sites and historic structures; knowledge oftechnical and science-based approaches to the documentation and treatment ofarcheological sites and historic structures; knowledge of traditional buildingtechniques and materials. Architecture license is preferred, but not required.Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MSTeams, MS OutlookAdobe CS (preferred, not required), AutoCAD (preferred, not required)Duties:

Provide technical knowledge in support of unique planning, research, andmonitoring projects.

Conduct inspections of historic structures in parks to assess their physicalcondition and determine likely causes of deterioration. Information to bedelivered to parks in format of their choice (i.e. professionalreports). 40%Recommend treatment that will address deficiencies and help to assure thelong-term preservation of the resource that will meet the Secretary of theInterior?s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties 40%Provide mentorship to new and existing architecture professionals in theNPS. 10%Other projects, reports or studies as identified by HACE. 10%

Other:Overnight travel: As needed to determine project scope and requirementsAir travel anticipated: Occasional, 2-5 tripsHealth and Safety Considerations: Guidance and training will be providedon-site to ensure that enrollee is fully aware of health and safetyconsiderations (every site is different and will involve different safetyprecautions and equipment). PPE will be provided, where necessary.Required Safety Gear: PPE may include, but is not limited to hard hats, facemasks, gloves, safety glasses, and other gear necessary to ensure that theenrollee is prepared to work in varied environments.Physical requirements: Ability to work in varied and extreme environments,hike or walk in rugged terrain, and work in confined spaces.
