DESCRIPTION: Operate a variety of heavy equipment, primarily an excavator, but not limited to, trackhoe, loader, backhoe, bulldozer, dump truck, tamper, and water truck.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: * Must be willing to travel if required.*

-Conduct routine inspections on equipment including moving parts, welds, and structural integrity prior to operating. Inform supervisor of all defects and malfunctions.

-May assist mechanic in repairing equipment.

-Perform routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment.

-Monitor gauges and other indicators ensuring safe operation.

-Grade, shape, and form work area.

-Backfill, spread fill, stabilize stone, load trucks and dump buckets, transport dump buckets, and move equipment including rigging and attaching equipment to bucket hook.

-Utilizes trench box, sloping, sheeting and/or shoring in excavations over five feet in depth.

-Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.

-Maintain records of time worked and materials used.

-When not operating, servicing or repairing equipment, may assist in other operations as designated by supervisor.

-Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus three (3) years of direct underground utilities experience or training required
