AMECO, a North American leader in Construction Site Services, Product Distribution, and Equipment Rental is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to support our fleet to include field service and repairs. The position is based out of our Harrison, OH facility.

In this role you will inspect, repair, troubleshoot, perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment. Local and at times extensive overnight travel (60%) is required, as a key member of our field service team. We are looking for a self-starter that displays a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality workmanship. Based on our small team environment, dependability is critical, including the ability to work overtime when needed. This is a day shift position.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose, repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems in heavy equipment

Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on all systems (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical) and repair/replace parts, engines, torque converters, hoses, wiring, connectors, switches, and other components as needed

Perform troubleshooting to identify controls/system failures and implement effective solutions

Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality

Adhere to and support AMECO's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies

Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED; Technical school credentials preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong analytical skills, able to understand equipment manuals and blueprints

Five years' experience with cranes and working knowledge of derricks

Rigging experience would be a plus

Expertise in working on/repairing heavy construction equipment to include rough terrain & mobile cranes, hoist & derrick is helpful.

Requires a professional and customer service demeanor always be displayed

Able to overnight travel 60% of the time

A valid driver's license, good driving record

Able to perform physical requirements of the job, including, but not limited to lifting, climbing, being on your feet for extended amounts of time and at times working in inclement weather are needed

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Capable of multi-tasking, while maintaining quality and safety standards

Requires a professional and customer service demeanor always be displayed

Must have a strong attention to detail and be able to work with little direction

The selected candidate must supply own repair tools, bench or larger tools/equipment supplied

As the workload dictates, some overtime (including weekends) will be required

Additional Assets

Experience in diagnostic, repair and maintenance on heavy equipment electrical controls/systems

Capable of diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electrical controls/systems in heavy equipment

Capable of electrical diagnostics, to include AC/DC electric.

Based on the type of equipment we work on, the job requires physical and labor intensive, i.e. heavy lifting, climbing on equipment and grinding out of position. Individuals will be required to frequently sit/drive stand, walk, lift/carry, reach, stoop, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, talk, hear, climb step ladder, engage in repetitive motions, and demonstrate eye/hand/foot coordination. Close vision is required for this job. Employees are required to regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Position frequently demands light to heavy physical work. All positions require standing over 90% of the day.

This position is based in a shop or field setting to include working on customer and project sites.

Role involves working alone and collaborating as part of a team. Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.

Environmental conditions include frequent exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise, and humidity.

Occasionally the performance of this position will require exposure to production/manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection or hard hats. The noise level in the production/manufacturing areas is usually loud.

Travel/Other Requirements: Overnight field travel required 60% of the time. Availability as requested/required for after-hour emergency calls, necessary overtime as the workload dictates.
