Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer or Designer to support a growing backlog of MEP projects. You will be starting new projects and assisting with the existing backlog, particularly focusing on work for the VA.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design calculations and evaluations specific to building codes.
• Lead project engineering design with a strong understanding of NYS Building Codes and industry standard design recommendations.
• Design electrical systems from the pre-schematic phase, including energy modeling analysis, energy code compliance calculations, opinion of probable costs, and life cycle cost analysis.
• Conduct field site visits during the design phase to document existing conditions across upstate regions (mileage reimbursement provided).
• Provide construction administration support, including submittal review, RFI responses, periodic site visits for compliance, and punch listing.
• Work on projects in K-12 or Federal work environments.

• Proficiency in REVIT.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to work semi-independently with minimal guidance.
• Strong understanding of electrical, building codes, and mechanical aspects.

• Spec writing experience would be a significant advantage.
• Experience in MEP design, electrical engineering, and electrical design is preferred.

The position is based onsite at the Rochester office, working alongside mechanical engineers and other architects. Occasional travel is required, with mileage reimbursed at the GSA rate.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
