Responsibilities for Mid-level Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer:

The successful candidate shall be able to work independently with minimal supervision from a Sr. Plumbing/Fire Protection engineer for tasks as follows:

  • Development of Plumbing and Fire Protection Construction documents (drawings, specifications. calculations. etc.) using computer software for new and retrofit buildings/projects in the mission critical environment for review by Sr. Engineer.
  • Experience with design of Plumbing and Fire protection systems in mission critical facilities.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinate with other internal engineering disciplines to achieve successful, functional and innovative designs for our clients.
  • Coordinate with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications.
  • Perform field survey to document existing conditions and/or observation of construction activities.
  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Preparation of Contract Documents using Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications for review by Sr. Engineer
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
  • Ensure project timelines are met, and project stays within budget
  • Able to travel (Light travel for project meetings/site observations).

Qualifications for Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • EIT/PE a plus
  • 5+ years experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems, Mission Critical design experience a plus
  • Strong computer skills and skilled in software typically used in plumbing/fire protection design (i,e. hydraulic calculations).
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs; Revit Experience is a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
  • Must be self-motivated and know project design steps/requirements
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of building, plumbing and fire codes.

Salary Transparency Statement

At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an annual rate between $95,000 - $115,000. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
