Manufacturing/Operations Supervisor Position Summary: The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Manager, Manufacturing/Operations. This position is responsible for supervising and directing employees in the manufacturing and/or assembly area(s). This position plans, assigns work, monitors adherence to policies and procedures, coaches and mentors the team, recommends improvements in production processes and working conditions. The production supervisor is responsible for the results of the team, continuous safety focus, process and product quality, workplace organization, product delivery, and other key performance indicators. In addition, they will also ensure all direct staff understand and comply with the Companys defined standard work practices and safety procedures. The position passionately provides support and trains operators in production tools and methodologies, fosters employee involvement and communication by maintaining the Level 1 boards and facilitates and/or leads daily meetings to provide an environment for continuous improvement of Norteks safety and manufacturing processes. Position Responsibilities: Actively reviews safety policies and practices within area of responsibility and sets expectations and involvement of team Identifies and implements solutions for improvements in safety, quality, and productivity Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes by utilizing knowledge of operational excellence manufacturing principles Performs root cause analysis and resolves problems identified in manufacturing processes Assists in the implementation, maintenance, and compliance of Workplace Organization (5S) in area of responsibility Provides supervision and leadership of assigned personnel o Builds trust and confidence within team o Effectively communicates departmental goals and project objectives o Develops and fosters personal responsibility and ownership within team o Ensures tasks are understood, monitored, and accomplished within appropriate time constraints and quality parameters Monitors line and manages data and information to implement any necessary countermeasures Coaches and mentors team to effectively improve processes and develop depth of talent Provides coaching, counseling or disciplinary action using standards set forth within company policies Applies and exhibits problem-solving and troubling-shooting skills to identify root causes and take effective action to resolve issues Ensures training matrix is maintained and team skills are fulfilled to meet production demands Conducts training and promotes understanding of production systems Monitors use of company resources to ensure control of operating costs Promotes one-piece flow and standardized work Reads and understands technical drawings with ability to synthesize and communicate appropriately Maintains time and attendance of production staff Position Requirements: A minimum of 5 years of plant level operations experience in a high-volume/mixed-model production environment is required. Experience serving large customers and understanding how to meet their complex needs is preferred. Five plus years of direct leadership experience is required. Preferred Bachelors degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or related discipline Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; the ability to navigate an ERP system is a plus Displays energetic, results-oriented approach with the ability to motivate teams Has experience in mixed-model manufacturing environment using lean principles Works collaboratively within a team environment Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications Proven team-oriented leader About Nortek Air Solutions: Nortek Air Solutions, LLC (NAS) is a Madison Industries company.
