Civil Senior Engineer I

Contract To Hire

Occasional overtime and travel will be required.**

**Description**

Responsible for performing expert level design and analysis work as directed to support various field and fabrication offices. The Civil Senior Engineer I will be part of a project team from inception through construction completion. The role will serve as a discipline lead for projects, managing internal and external resources as assigned/required.

- Prepares and manages scope, budget and schedule for projects or assignments; this includes any discipline internal or external resources assigned to support their projects are within scope, budget and schedule.

- Acquires general knowledge of principles, and practices of related fields, and ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.

- Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.

- Designs a complete project, system, component, or process.

- Checks entire job for constructability, interferences, operational safety, constructability and overall quality assurance.

- Prepares complete project documents.

- Designs and conducts experiments and analysis and interprets data.

- Formulates and solves problems.

- Communicates a strong sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done.

- Coordinates tasks with engineers, designers and administrative staff.

- Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner.

- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work.

- Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.

- Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.

- Receives general direction on key objectives.

- Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.

- Interacts with PM, client, customers, officials, contractors and others.

- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments

- Interfaces with permitting agencies, rail operators, utility companies and/or municipalities providing utility services, etc.

- Functions as engineer-of-record for civil/site project scope.

- Prepares written scopes of work documents and coordinates efforts of topographic/ hydrographic survey and geotechnical subconsultants.

- Performs other related duties, as required.

**Qualifications**

- BS in Civil Engineering required; MS degree preferred.

- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

- 6+ years related engineering experience.

- Experienced in industrial and/or commercial site development, roads/streets/highways, storm drainage collection and retention/detention systems, potable water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and pumping systems, site grading, earthwork, etc.

- Experienced in rail layout/design and rail operator industrial track standards/requirements and approval processes/procedures.

- General understanding of local/state/federal regulatory agency permitting requirements and processes/procedures.

- Proficient in common civil engineering and Microsoft software packages (HEC, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, EXCEL, WORD, e.g.)

- Experience in bulk material handling and liquid terminal facilities is a plus.

- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.

- Demonstratives a proactive approach and consistently positive demeanor.

- Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills; ability to prepare and make project-related presentations to clients is desirable.

- Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
